The West Fork Sports Club has been a leader in conservation since 1966. The 19 acre park and campground along the banks of the West Fork of the Kickapoo River, a prime trout fishing destination, is truly in the Heart of the Driftless. Founded by the Widner Family, the club continues to be a valuable resource for the local community and visitors to the West Fork valley. The West Fork Sports Club is a 501 (c)3 Non-profit organization and relies upon camping and cabin fees and donations to meet our conservation mission. You can designate your donation for general operations, conservation, or to the stream bank restoration fund.
About the Club
Clubhouse
The XXXX square foot clubhouse can be rented for your group activity. It has restrooms, a full kitchen, and enough tables and chairs to fit at least 75 people.
Shelters
The “Day Shelter” can be rented separately or it is comes with renting the clubhouse. The shelter is ideal for outdoor cook outs and smaller gatherings.
Membership
By law, our inexpensive annual membership is required to camp at the WFSC campground. Membership is $30 for the year, renewable after the 1st of each year.

Our top priorities are to be a voice for conservation and community in the West Fork watershed. The WFSC has long been “Trout Central” but we are more than just that!
Fishing
Avalanche is the ideal base camp for your Driftless Area fishing trip. The tiny town of Avalanche has long been “trout central” for Midwest trout anglers.
The Driftless Area
The “Coulee Region” is a topographically diverse area carved by water, not glaciers and the WFSC is the perfect centralized location to explore this beautiful area.
Brookie CAbin
“Brookie” is the new “tiny home” cabin which was lovingly built in 2022. It comes with a small kitchenette and loft.
Camping
The 19 acre campground has electric and rustic sites and make for a central base camp for your adventures.
Green Cabin
The “Green Cabin” is complete with heating, cooling, its own bathroom and kitchen. The Green Cabin sleeps up to 4.
A Perfect Base Camp
The campground offers a quiet centralized location for your Driftless Area adventures. Close to fishing and other outdoor activities as well as access to shopping, restaurants, and other amenities.
Clubhouse Rental
Our clubhouse can be rented for meetings, family reunions, weddings and receptions, and other activities. It comes with a full kitchen. Host your event with us at the WFSC.
Our Location
Never heard of Avalanche? We are located about 9 miles east, northeast of Viroqua which is less than 2 hours from Madison, less than 3 hours from Milwaukee, and 3-4 hours from Chicago and the Twin Cities – depending upon your location. We are located in the Heart of the Driftless Area in beautiful Vernon County.

Stream Restoration Fund
A leader in stream habitat restoration, the West Fork of the Kickapoo needs some love and attention after the 2018 floods drastically changed the river. Plans for a more flood resilient stream design are ready to be implemented. Help us make those plans a reality.
