The Westfork Sports Club on the banks of the Kickapoo River in Vernon County WI has 19 acres and .5 miles of Class 1 Stream. Founded in 1966 and turning its focus on cold water environmental conservation in the late 1980’s, has participated in, lead, and supported stream conservation, education and restoration. Known as “Fly Fishing Central” or “Trout Central” , it is located in the Driftless Area of the midwest where five glaciers missed leaving no glacial “drift” and creating mini mountains with and 300 trout streams in the valleys. The Dept. of Natural Resources and local conservation clubs has acquired over 40,000 acres of access to fish these waters.
Once you visit the Westfork Sports Club (WFSC) you will see how special the location and grounds are. The fabulous sunsets, mist rising from the valley, clear star gazing, Amish Bakery’s, Saturday Morning Farmers Market, good coffee, great dining, Wisco pop, Driftless Brewery and Provisions and much much more.. Spread out camping along the river with shade trees and fields to play in while enjoying the outdoors birding, biking hiking (Kickapoo Valley Reserve), vacationers, fishing, hunting. Enjoy the spring bloom, the fall color spectacles, starry nights, full moons, and comfortable weather. Seasonal activities include fungi hunters and apple aficionados in the fall. Mississippi River is 40 mins away, La Crosse – 40 Mins, Milwaukee -3 hrs, Madison, -2 hrs, Minneapolis 3 hours. Chicago 3.5 hrs.
Membership is required annually and buys you your own private campground to visit, play, and enjoy. Your membership has perks such as free WiFi, environmental updates, trout stocking where needed and 24/7 access April through October. Donations to keep the conservation work of the club, the campground costs down and the club sustainable, are greatly appreciated. We are a 501c3 and 100% of your donation goes to the club and is tax deductible.
First Come First Serve for ALL camping sites. EACH camping spot is a group camping space so you can pitch your tent anywhere and it will be fine.
Large groups (15 or more) should schedule before April 1 of each year and identify the section of the campground for their camping needs. Use the online contact below to make requests. Requests do not mean reservations are complete. A confirmation email will be sent confirming availability. The WFSC reserves the right to cancel ANY reservation when weather events prevent use of parts or all of the campground. For group reservations, each April a sign will be posted at the Shelters indicating the reserved dates for large groups. If a member camps there when a large group is coming in they will be asked to move. You must be a member to camp at the Club. Other than these reserved dates all members are welcome to camp in these areas. See Camping and Membership pages for more info.
To become a member please send membership dues and Contact Info (name, address, phone, email, & dues payments) to WFSC, PO Box 52, Viroqua WI OR by Paypal at firstname.lastname@example.org OR you may pay at the Green Pay Station by the water hose (Iron Ranger) at the Campground. Memberships run (Jan 1- Dec 31) and we ask members to renew the beginning of each year to keep costs down and allow us funds to get the campground open. More info on Membership
