Welcome to the West Fork Sports Club

The West Fork Sports Club is nestled along the banks of the West Fork of the Kickapoo River in Vernon County, Wisconsin. Spanning 19 acres with 3,500 feet of pristine stream frontage, it’s one of the most beautiful campgrounds in the Driftless Area.

Founded in 1966 and shifting its focus to cold water conservation in the late 1980s, the club has led, supported, and participated in countless stream conservation, restoration, and education efforts. Known by many as “Fly Fishing Central” or “Trout Central,” WFSC sits in the heart of the Driftless—a region untouched by glaciers that created rugged ridges and valleys, home to over 300 trout streams. The Wisconsin DNR and local conservation groups have secured more than 40,000 acres of public fishing access in the area.

Once you visit WFSC, you’ll understand why it’s such a special place. Picture sunsets over the hills, mist rising from the valley, incredible stargazing, and the charm of local gems like Amish bakeries, the Saturday farmers market, Driftless Cafe, Wisco Pop, Driftless Brewing, and Provisions.

Camping is spread along the river beneath shady trees, with open fields perfect for kids, dogs, and games. The area is rich with outdoor activities: birding, biking, hiking the nearby Kickapoo Valley Reserve, fishing, and hunting. Enjoy the spring blooms, spectacular fall colors, star-filled nights, and comfortable weather. Seasonal favorites include mushroom foraging and apple picking in the fall. The Mississippi River is just 40 minutes away, with La Crosse, Madison, and Minneapolis all within 2–3 hours.

Support Conservation

As a 501(c)(3), WFSC relies on member support and donations to keep conservation efforts and campground operations running. All donations are tax-deductible and go directly to the club. Many employers offer donation matching, and some members include WFSC in their wills or as policy beneficiaries to continue their legacy of support.
